Impactful research
Anchored in its proven leadership in Chinese medicine education, HKBU advances the integration of Chinese medicine into Hong Kong’s health care system. Through its partnership with Hong Kong’s first Chinese medicine hospital, the University works with the HKSAR Government, industry, and academia to strengthen clinical research, foster innovation, and elevate the global standing of Chinese medicine.
HKBU has established the Frontier Translational Research Institute, led by an international team of top-class researchers including Professor Sir Michael Houghton, the 2020 Nobel laureate in Physiology or Medicine. The Institute focuses on medical devices, diagnostic technologies, vaccines, integrative medicine, Chinese medicine, and other biomedical sciences. The research is dedicated to accelerating medical breakthroughs and facilitating the translation of research findings into viable commercial and industrial applications.
Fostering creativity and innovation
The University is deeply committed to fostering creativity and innovation, cultivating a culture that nurtures transdisciplinary collaboration. HKBU’s transdisciplinary undergraduate programmes integrate science, technology and the humanities to develop innovative thinkers qualified for diverse industries. HKBU has established the Life Science Imaging Centre, which boasts advanced brain imaging facilities to promote transdisciplinary research on neuroscience studies. HKBU also warmly embraces novel technologies to re-define artistic and cultural experiences.
HKBU’s Visualization Research Centre builds unique visualisation systems combined with powerful sonic architectures for a variety of applications. These include expanded cinema, virtual museums, intangible and tangible cultural heritage, big data archives and multimedia performances.
The newly opened, state-of-the-art Jockey Club Campus of Creativity offers a vibrant platform where creativity and technology converge.
